OUR MISSION
The mission of Living Legacy Ministries is to create a positive, lasting change, in the world. One of the ways we’ll accomplish this is by drilling water wells in third world countries, who do not have access to clean, sustainable water.
OUR INSPIRATION
Estelle and I pick up Mila, our granddaughter, from preschool every afternoon, and the first thing she asks me is if I have a cup of ice-cold water from Starbucks for her because she is hot, sweaty and thirsty from playing on the playground. So, I always have a cup of water for her. I drive through Starbucks, order the water, drive to the window and they give it to me free. It’s just that simple.
But not so simple for the over 840,000 children who die every year, from diarrhea, as a result of unsafe, contaminated drinking water, they are forced to drink.
We decided we wanted to do something to help these children and provide clean water! The wells we drill will be called Mila’s Water Wells, developing a lasting legacy in her name!
DID YOU KNOW
The majority of water sources in developing countries are inadequate, and many of them are shared with animals from the local area. In fact, the majority of sickness, disease, and death, are caused by fecal contamination from these very animals.
On average, women and children spend 200 million hours every day, collecting water that is already contaminated. Walking to fetch water is dangerous and treacherous.
Many times, the walk can be an eight-mile round trip. And, when walking alone, women and young girls are vulnerable to sexual attacks.
When safe water becomes accessible, children are able to attend school, women have time to care for and earn money for their families, and sickness and disease are reduced.
